MEDIA BRIEFING HELD AT UGANDA MEDIA CENTER ON CABINET DECISION TAKEN DURING THE CABINET MEETING ON MONDAY 30 APRIL 2018 AT STATE HOUSE ENTEBBE
On Monday 30 April 2018 cabinet sat and decided as follows
1. Cabinet approved strategies to revamp UTL which include
a) Sourcing for a competent investor to invest in UTL b) Extending UTL License for 20 years if it gets a competent investor c) UCC to expand UTL frequency broadband (spectrum) d) Give UTL unlimited access and use of the National backbone infrastructure and make it governments primary provider of internet
2. Approved proposals to retain KCCA hospitals (Kawempe, Kiruddu, Naguru) as semi-autonomous referral hospitals under the ministry of health to among others bridge the patient referral gap between lower hospitals and Mulago and strengthen professional training capacity of Makerere University College of health sciences
3. Approved the inclusion of KCCA political leaders among the category of Political leaders whose salaries will be enhanced in the Financial Year 2018/2019
