The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance takes this opportunity to thank all the individuals, organisations and teams which submitted proposals to the National ICT Initiatives Support Program (NIISP). Three hundred and forty nine proposals were received with ideas in Education, Health, Agriculture, Fintech, among others.
The Ministry received 349 applications from which 45 applications were initially selected for consideration and they were invited to pitch on 15th December 2017 before of a panel of independent experts – NIISP Selection Committee which was inaugurated by the Hon. Minister of ICT and National Guidance Hon. Frank Tumwebaze on 31st August 2017.
Whereas the Ministry had hoped to announce the beneficiaries on 20th December 2017, the NIISP Selection Committee found it necessary to subject the ideas to the various sectors within government, the reason for this is to ensure that innovations and/or applications are adopted within the sectors for sustainability and viability.
As a result, the Ministry has organised meetings with the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, and Education to interface with the applicants in order to determine the extent of support required per innovation/ application.
In saying the above, there is still an opportunity for the rest of the applications to be accorded various forms of support like direct financial support, work spaces/ rent, fast internet connectivity, support for intellectual property rights (IPR), business mentorships, talent development, training, attachments, providing market the products, among others.
