Uganda Media Centre Receives 25 Laptops to Strengthen Government Communication
The Uganda Media Centre received 25 laptops from the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, delivered through the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U), to strengthen its capacity to coordinate and disseminate government information.

The laptops were handed over on 26th March, 2026, at the Media Centre in Kampala, in a ceremony officiated by the State Minister for National Guidance, Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga.

Speaking at the event, the Minister said the government is positioning the Media Centre as a hub for official information, both in person and online. “We want the Media Centre to be the primary source of government information. This support is part of a broader effort to ensure that accurate, timely information reaches the public and supports national development,” he said.

Uganda Media Centre Executive Director, Alan Kasujja, said the support comes at a critical time as the government intensifies efforts to improve communication, enhance public awareness, and ensure citizens are well informed about national programmes and opportunities.

He expressed appreciation to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr Aminah Zawedde, for her quick response to the Centre’s request to strengthen its capacity in support of the government’s economic transformation agenda.

“This is not about public relations; it is about nation-building,” Kasujja said. “With the right tools, we are able to tell Uganda’s story more effectively, highlight opportunities, and support national development.”

He added that strong communication will be central to achieving Uganda’s long-term development ambitions, including the target of growing the economy to 500 billion dollars by 2040.

The laptops form part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance to equip government institutions with digital tools to improve efficiency, coordination, and service delivery.

NITA-U Executive Director, Hatwib Mugasa, said the Authority will continue supporting government agencies through digital infrastructure and capacity building. “We are working with institutions to ensure they have the tools to collect, process, and disseminate information efficiently, while strengthening access to e-services such as connectivity and digital platforms,” he said.

The Minister urged the Media Centre to fully utilise the equipment to enhance the visibility of government programmes and strengthen engagement with citizens.

The donation reflects the government’s continued focus on digital transformation as a driver of effective communication, transparency, and service delivery.
