Communication
Uganda is set to co-host the 8th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) under the PAMOJA partnership with Kenya and Tanzania. The tournament, officially branded Total Energies CAF CHAN PAMOJA 2024, will run from 2nd to 30th August 2025. Uganda will host 12 matches at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, including Group C fixtures, a quarter-final, a semi-final, and the 3rd place playoff. Five national teams, Algeria, Guinea, Niger, South Africa, and Uganda, will compete in Group C matches played in Kampala. Uganda’s first game will be against Algeria on Monday, 4th August 2025 at 8:00 p.m., following the opening fixture between Niger and Guinea on the same day at 5:00 p.m.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is managing all ticketing for the tournament. Tickets will be sold exclusively online through https://www.cafonline.com/caf-african-nationschampionship/tickets/ or by scanning the provided QR code. Physical tickets will not be issued. To purchase, fans can select their preferred country (Kenya, Tanzania, or Uganda) and navigate to the “Book now” option for Uganda. They will find match day schedules and seating plans before securing a ticket.

Tickets are categorised into three price ranges: Ordinary at UGX 10,000, Silver at UGX 30,000, and Premium at UGX 50,000. One ticket grants access to all matches scheduled on a given match day. For example, on days with two games, such as 4th and 8th August, a single ticket covers both fixtures. However, fans cannot re-enter the stadium if they exit after the first game.

Ticket availability for Uganda’s group stage matches is as follows: 4th August 2025, all ticket categories available; 8th August 2025 for Guinea vs. Uganda, Ordinary only; 11th August 2025 for Uganda vs. Niger, Ordinary only; 15th August 2025, Ordinary only; and 18th August 2025 for Uganda vs. South Africa, Ordinary only, though sales are not yet open for this day.

Ordinary tickets provide seating in Sections 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, and 16, located behind the goalposts. Silver tickets are for Section 5 opposite the VVIP stand, while Premium tickets are for Sections 12 and 14, which are adjacent to the VVIP section. Fans will be shown a stadium map and seat number during booking. Each seat is held for 10 minutes before it is released to another buyer.

Accepted payment methods include MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, and bank cards (Visa/MasterCard). Purchasers must enter their name, phone number, and email before confirming payment. Tickets will be sent via text message or email with a download link. On match day, fans can present a printed ticket or a digital version on their phone for scanning at the entrance.

To promote public engagement, the Local Organising Committee has invested UGX 1 billion in media promotions, working with FUFA, TV, radio, influencers, and online platforms. Uganda’s approach to CHAN 2024 ticketing reflects a commitment to accessibility and digital efficiency, ensuring fans can easily secure their seats for this historic sporting event at Namboole.
