Ministry Leadership Visits Vision Group for Familiarisation Engagement
The Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Rt. Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba, together with the Minister of State for ICT, Hon. Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo, the Minister of State for National Guidance, Hon. Alioni Yorke Odria, and a delegation from the Ministry, visited Vision Group on 4th August 2026 for a familiarisation engagement.
The delegation was welcomed by Vision Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr. Don Wanyama, who led the team on a tour of the company’s departments before a meeting with the management team.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Ministry leadership to appreciate Vision Group’s operations, its contribution to Uganda’s media sector and opportunities for collaboration in communication and digital transformation.
Mr. Wanyama highlighted Vision Group’s journey since its establishment in 1986, noting that the company is celebrating 40 years of service and contribution to Uganda’s media landscape. “As Vision Group, we began in 1986, so this year we are celebrating 40 years. We have reached this important milestone as we mark four decades of service and contribution to Uganda’s media landscape,” he said.
He explained that Vision Group has grown from a newspaper company into a multimedia organisation with platforms in print, television, radio, digital media, commercial printing, publishing and other communication services.
“As a company, our vision is to become a centre of excellence for customised communication and business solutions. We are not only focused on media but also on providing other business solutions connected to communication,” he said.
Hon. Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo commended Vision Group for its role in informing Ugandans and communicating Government programmes. “For many years, you have been more than a newspaper. To Government, you are trusted partners who help communicate Government policies,” she said.
She encouraged Vision Group to support Uganda’s digital transformation by using its wide reach and public trust to help citizens understand and adopt digital services. “You are not just reporters, but partners. We need you to lead in the digital transformation. Your voice, reach and the trust you have among Ugandans can help make this transformation a success,” she said.
The Rt. Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba noted that while Vision Group’s mandate remains important, the way information is produced and consumed has changed due to technology. “The purpose for which this institution was established remains the same today. However, the environment has changed significantly, especially with advancements in technology and changing patterns of information consumption,” she said. She encouraged Vision Group to continue adapting and finding better ways of serving citizens in the digital era.
Hon. Alioni Yorke Odria commended Vision Group for its contribution to Uganda’s economy through employment creation, tax contribution and programmes such as the Harvest Money Expo, which provides information and opportunities for Ugandans.
“When I look at your achievements, you are one of the biggest taxpayers in this country. We appreciate that you are employing very many people. One of your programmes, the Harvest Money Expo, is also highly appreciated,” he said.
He assured Vision Group of Government’s commitment to working together to support its growth and contribution to national development.
“What we can promise you is that we are here to ensure that we grow together,” he said.
The engagement concluded with a shared commitment between the Ministry and Vision Group to strengthen cooperation in digital transformation, public communication and initiatives that support Uganda’s development agenda.
