Ministry Leadership Visits Uganda Media Centre
The Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Rt. Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba, today visited the Uganda Media Centre as part of the ongoing familiarisation visits to institutions under the Ministry.
She was accompanied by the Minister of State for National Guidance, Hon. Alioni Yorke Odria, and the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aminah Zawedde.
The Ministers were received by the Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre, Mr. Alan Kasujja, who briefed them on the Centre's operations, mandate, and its role in supporting Government communication. The briefing, among other things, highlighted the Center's work in coordinating communications across Government, engaging the media, and ensuring that citizens receive timely and accurate information about Government programs and services.
During the engagement with staff, Rt. Hon. Lumumba discussed ways to strengthen government media coordination, improve strategic communication, and enhance the dissemination of public information. She emphasized the importance of effective communication in increasing public awareness, building trust, and supporting national development.
Rt. Hon. Lumumba noted that clear, timely, and coordinated communication is essential for keeping citizens informed about Government policies, programmes, and achievements. She encouraged the Uganda Media Centre to continue working closely with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to ensure that Government speaks with one voice and provides accurate information to the public.
The visit forms part of the Ministers' familiarisation programme across institutions under the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance. The programme is intended to provide the new leadership with a deeper understanding of the mandates, achievements, priorities, and challenges of the sector's agencies as Government continues to advance Uganda's digital transformation and strengthen public communication.
