President Museveni Urges Journalists to Champion Wealth Creation and PDM Success

Projects
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni called on journalists to use their platforms to promote wealth creation and mindset transformation among Ugandans. Speaking during a media interaction at State Lodge, Kityerera, as part of his four-day Parish Development Model (PDM) performance assessment tour in the Busoga sub-region, the President underscored the media’s critical role in driving societal change.

“I’m very happy with you journalists. If you could confess and stop spreading lies and become Christians or Muslims for a short time to spread the gospel that transforms our people's mindsets, the people will move,” President Museveni remarked.
He acknowledged that, despite criticism from the media and opposition, Ugandans are increasingly embracing government-led development initiatives such as the PDM. The President emphasized the program’s design, which channels funds directly to the parish level to promote inclusivity and efficiency. He encouraged beneficiaries to invest in the seven key activities under the Four-Acre Model to ensure sustainable income generation and improve livelihoods.

President Museveni also highlighted the importance of prioritizing indigenous families in managing lakes within fishing communities. He noted that these families, with proper government guidance, are better positioned to combat illegal fishing and promote sustainable practices.
In a gesture of support for media professionals, the President contributed UGX 100 million to the SACCO of journalists in the Busoga sub-region and provided a mini-bus for their transportation. He reaffirmed his commitment to empowering journalists as essential partners in national development.
