On Friday, 21st February 2025, a delegation from the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance (MoICT&NG) visited NRG Radio to strengthen collaboration between the government and the media.

The visit was part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to foster productive partnerships with media outlets to enhance the digital landscape, communication systems, and national guidance nationwide.

The delegation, led by Commissioner of Communications Mr. Moses Watasa, was warmly welcomed by the NRG Radio team, led by Christine Mawadri, Executive Director and Head of Strategic Partnerships at NRG Radio Uganda. The meeting highlighted the crucial role of media, especially digital platforms like NRG Radio, in shaping public discourse, driving national dialogue, and promoting government initiatives.

NRG Radio, one of the leading stations in the country, has made significant strides in reaching a wide audience, particularly the youth, through its innovative content and use of technology. The collaboration between the Ministry of ICT and such platforms is seen as an opportunity to align efforts in promoting national development and digital transformation.

The visit aimed to foster digital transformation by engaging with key media players, promote national guidance by collaborating on spreading government messages, strengthen partnerships between the Ministry and media outlets to align communication strategies, and engage the youth in national issues through platforms like NRG Radio, which has a strong youth following.

The delegation toured NRG Radio’s studios, observed live broadcasts, and engaged in discussions with the station’s staff. The Ministry officials were impressed by NRG Radio’s cutting-edge facilities and dynamic programming.

The visit also explored ways to enhance the synergy between government ICT initiatives and NRG Radio’s digital content. Ideas for joint programs and campaigns were discussed to promote digital literacy, national unity, and civic engagement.

This visit marks a step towards greater collaboration between the government and the media. Both the Ministry and NRG Radio are committed to working together to leverage technology for public benefit, particularly in digital literacy, communication, and national guidance.
As the country continues to embrace the digital era, such partnerships will play a key role in ensuring that the public is well-informed, engaged, and empowered to actively contribute to national development.

The visit underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening media partnerships and fostering the digital transformation of the media landscape. Through such engagements, the Ministry aims to build a more connected, informed, and empowered society, ultimately driving the nation towards a brighter, digitally inclusive future
