In a heartfelt gathering marked by remembrance, unity, and spiritual reflection, the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance hosted an Interfaith Prayer Breakfast on Friday, 11th April 2025. The event brought together staff and religious leaders to honor departed colleagues and the loved ones of staff members who have passed away, while dedicating the year ahead to faith, shared purpose, and national service. A moment of silence was observed, setting a reflective tone for the occasion.

Delivering the opening remarks, Dr. Amina Zawedde, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, emphasized the value of faith, diversity, and unity in achieving both personal fulfillment and national progress. "Faith has the power to bind us beyond our differences," she stated. "As we remember our colleagues, may we also renew our shared mission to serve with compassion, integrity, and unity."

She further highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to inclusivity and encouraged staff to embrace technology not just as a tool for innovation, but as a platform to promote peace and understanding. "Let us use the platforms we have to promote peace, to inspire one another, and to create a society where every belief is respected and every voice matters," she added.

The interfaith prayer session was led by His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, Deputy Mufti, Father Kiibi Deogratius Kateregga, and Reverend Samuel Muwonge, each delivering powerful spiritual reflections.

In his prayer, the Deputy Mufti sought God’s guidance, mercy for the deceased, blessings upon the Ministry and its staff, wisdom for national leaders, and strength for those who are grieving. He emphasized the importance of faith as a foundation for resilience and called for unity, humility, and collective responsibility in navigating the challenges of life. His message echoed the value of spiritual mindfulness in public service and the healing power of prayer in times of loss.

Following the Deputy Mufti’s prayer, Father Kiibi Kateregga shared comforting Christian reflections focused on eternal life, the peace of God’s presence, and the role of faith in healing and resilience. He encouraged attendees to hold on to hope and to continue praying for those who have passed, reminding them of the strength that comes from spiritual unity.

Reverend Samuel Muwonge added his voice by urging all staff to stay grounded in their faith and to carry the message of love and service into their daily work. He highlighted the value of compassion and the shared responsibility of serving with excellence and humility.

Beyond prayer, the breakfast became a space for personal reflection. Speakers reminded participants of the brevity of life, the power of gratitude, and the importance of caring for their health, finances, and loved ones. Attendees were encouraged to reflect on their legacy and to live purposefully.

As the event drew to a close, collective prayers were offered for the success of the Ministry, the well-being of its staff and families, and peace and progress for Uganda. The year 2025 was committed to God with hope, dedication, and renewed strength.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Godfrey Kabbyanga, State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, reflected on his faith journey and the uplifting nature of the gathering. “Prayer reminds us of who we are, where we’ve come from, and what we must live for,” he said. “Let us carry this spirit forward—not just today, but every day we serve this nation.”

He emphasized the enduring need for prayer, especially for national leaders, and called for more opportunities like this for spiritual growth. "Leadership is a calling, and it must be guided by faith, wisdom, and humility," he added.

The Interfaith Prayer Breakfast was more than a ceremonial gathering—it was a moment of connection, remembrance, and renewal. As the Ministry continues to drive Uganda’s digital transformation, it does so under the guidance of faith, unity, and a shared commitment to serve with purpose.
