A four-person delegation from Ethiopia visited Uganda to benchmark strategies for enhancing digital connectivity. The delegation included representatives from Ethiopia’s Ministry of Innovation and Technology, the Ethiopian Communication Authority, and the Eastern Africa Regional Digital Integration Project (EARDIP).
The delegation’s primary focus was on understanding the implementation of Uganda’s Universal Access Fund (UAF) projects, which aim to improve access to digital services in underserved areas, including refugee settlements and host communities. They explored Uganda’s innovative approaches to ensuring inclusivity in digital skills, literacy, devices, and internet connectivity to enhance service delivery.
In addition to learning about Uganda’s best practices, the discussions addressed emerging technologies, digital skilling, and the development of a thriving innovation ecosystem. Both countries shared insights and innovative solutions for promoting digital inclusivity and bridging the digital divide, particularly for marginalized populations.
This exchange highlighted the value of regional collaboration in driving digital transformation and fostering sustainable development across Africa.
